Our Ministry: The Unitarian Universalist Trauma Response Ministry (UUTRM) provides multi-faith and culturally sensitive spiritual care to survivors of mass disasters and other significant trauma. Our ministries include, but are not limited to:
We take up this work in the spirit of our Unitarian Universalist faith, which calls us to respond in the spirit of respect and compassion for all people, regardless of race, color, creed, gender, religion, national origin or sexual orientation.
Who We Are: UU Trauma Response Ministry is composed of Unitarian Universalist ministers, lay members of UU congregations and others who respect the vision and beliefs of Unitarian Universalism. Trained in trauma response, these people desire to assist those involved in traumatic situations. This assistance may take the form of:
Membership: UU Trauma Response Ministry depends on its member volunteers to provide on-site ministry, crisis counseling and support services such as administrative services, training and fundraising. The Trauma Response Ministry was started by a grant from The All Souls Church of New York City Emergency Relief Fund, but depends on your help to keep things going. We welcome your participation in many ways. If you are interested in working with he UUTRM in any of the areas involved in disaster preparedness, education and response please send a completed application and $10 membership fee to the address listed on the application form.
