Update: Puerto Rico & US Virgin Islands—Hurricane Maria

Most Americans are aware that two US territories, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, were directly in the path of Hurricane Maria.

PR&USVIOur contacts from Unitarian Universalist communities there report that there were no deaths in the UU congregation in either location. But the damage is devastating.

There has not been a request yet for UUTRM response; coping with the immediate physical impact of the hurricane is the first order of priority.

We have heard from Reverend Qiyamah A. Rahman, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of St. Croix, that 80 percent of island structures have been destroyed or heavily damaged. Rev. Qiyamah says, “Remember us in your joys and concerns, please call our name in prayer and meditation and please send donations to the following local sources or any of the UU hurricane relief efforts.”
